A Century of Caring

One hundred years and we just got started!

With the stroke of a pen and a $10.00 fee to establish a charter, The Stamford Home for the Aged, was founded by a group of dedicated women who felt responsible to assure that the elderly and frail in Stamford would be housed and fed and able to live their remaining years in dignity.

It was to be the beginning of a century of caring for the elderly population of Stamford and the establishment of the only private agency in the city dedicated to the special needs of this under -served population.

Senior Services of Stamford is a 100- year-old independent, not-for-profit agency providing information and financial assistance to the over-60 population of Stamford, Connecticut. Our trained staff can provide helpful resources and materials, as well as options for finding professional service providers.

Our services are available at no charge-and available to any Stamford resident over 60. Financial assistance is provided on a case-by-case basis and is given providing a client can show demonstrable need.

Exceptions may be made for financial assistance for individuals aged 55 to 60 based on a  committee review and availability of funds.

Mr. Scott entertained the many guests with his down home southern sense of humor, and self-deprecating wit.
