Stamford Senior Services was recently named the Aging and Disability Resource Center by the Southwestern Connecticut Agency on Aging and the Administration on Aging. Senior Services will be a single point of contact for seniors and disabled persons seeking information on community and home-based services. The ADRC is part of a nationwide effort to develop a single point of entry for older adults, persons with disabilities, family members and care takers to provide access to services and supports. ADRC’s are designed to help navigate a complex web of community-based, health and long term care supports.

The staff at Senior Services met Anthony Paultor last fall after a call from a social worker saying he might require assistance. The staff saw he needed 24-hour assistance while his wife was in the hospital. Additional care was added when she was discharged. The couple live independently in Stamford and credit each other for their longevity.

In 1908,  Senior Services of Stamford was created with the mission to serve and care for the elderly population of the city. A charter was established, Stamford Home for the Aged was founded, and a private, not-for-profit agency grew to become the only private agency dedicated to the special needs of seniors.

The agency closed the book on 100 years of service and now looks to the future filled with challenges and joy. The agency is committed to their core mission statement to continue providing  emergency financial assistance, referrals, advocacy and counseling to seniors.

All services are available at no charge and available to any Stamford resident over 60.

Our mission is to help meet the needs of seniors from all walks of life in the greater Stamford area in a spirit of personal caring and concern. In cooperation with other area organizations and agencies, we strive to enable seniors to live more secure, independent and fulfilled lives.
